Osteopaths in the UK following a 4-5 years full time approved degree course to attain a BSc in Osteopathy. The Osteopathic colleges in the UK are regulated by the General Osteopathic Council and Government bodies. Osteopaths are entitled to use the designate ‘Registered Osteopath’ which is a title protected in law by The Osteopaths Act of 1993. Osteopaths in the UK are required by law to hold current insurance and public liability and maintain registration with the General Osteopathic Council. Osteopaths are required to maintain continued personal and professional development, keeping their clinical skills and knowledge current and maintain and uphold high practice standards and code of ethics and compliance with current legislation through the Osteopathic Practice Standards regulated by the General Osteopathic Council. Osteopaths may also be members of the Institute of Osteopaths, which promotes and protects the training, regulation and continued education and development of Osteopathy in the UK. Homoeopaths in the UK follow a 4 year training at an approved college, regulated by the Society of Homeopaths, The Alliance of Registered Homeopaths, and The Faculty of Homeopathy and are required to maintain professional registration and membership of the Alliance of Registered Homeopaths, The Faculty of Homeopathy or the Society of Homeopaths, and to adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Society of Homeopaths or the above recognised registering bodies within Homoeopathy. Homoeopaths are required to maintain public liability and insurance and maintain professional and personal continued training and development, which is regulated by the Society of Homeopaths; The Alliance of Registered Homeopaths and the Faculty of Homeopathy. Carolyn McGregor Registered Osteopath holds current membership of the General Osteopathic Council, the Institute of Osteopathy, the Sutherland Cranial College of Osteopathy; the Sutherland Society and as a Registered Homoeopath, Carolyn McGregor upholds the code of ethics of the Alliance of Registered Homeopaths with whom she maintains registration, insurance, public liability and continued post graduate development and training.
